Title: Melanistic Deer
Post by: Anonymous on November 19, 2007, 06:02:22 PM
I know that this sighting is not in the Toronto area but may be an interesting sighting to some.

On Sunday morning , Nov. 18, 2007 Ian Cannell and I  had a Doe and her yearling fawn along Prospect Road south of Eldon Station Road which is southwest of Kirkfield and northeast of Toronto.

The yearling was a very dark animal that could pass for a melanistic form - Charcoal coloured, no white throat and under tail and belly were a dark grey.

The doe was the regular winter coloured animal.
