Title: Juvenile Bald Eagle at Bluffers Park
Post by: Lee on December 03, 2013, 03:42:49 PM
Yesterday at around 10 a.m. I was driving along the road at Bluffers Park between the marina and beach when I saw a huge raptor that was about double the size of the usual red-tailed hawks that live along the Bluffs.  It was a juvenile bald eagle, perched at the top of a birch tree, totally exposed.  Little birds were bouncing off its back and he flapped a bit but didn't move so they stopped bugging him.  About ten minutes later he flew a few trees west and higher up along the bluffs and stayed there till at least 11 when I left.  That's only the second time I've seen an eagle in the Toronto area that was roosting instead of flying.

crazy. 4-5 years ago, Meghan and i likely saw a juvie bald eagle briefly land on the east side of the Leslie Spit, just south of the marina. we were too exhausted to get closer.
