Title: Coopers Hawk
Post by: northerner2 on December 10, 2007, 05:46:18 PM
Sunday morning. Having just turned away from the breakfast table, we are rattled by Bluejays outside with their cautionary calls, I look through the patio door to be faced with a dove pursued by a Coopers Hawk. Dove hits glass - and escapes. Coopers Hawk, flares & recovers and settles in the crabapple tree to compose him/herself. No meal today here, for him/her.
He's a regular here in northend Brampton.

Actually, and second guessing myself, it was more likely a Sharp Shinned.....

I also saw one (not sure though if it was Coopers or Sharp Shinned) when I was going through the drive through at the Tim Hortons last Sunday on the Queensway just east of Islington south side. It was chasing birds.
