Title: Laysan Albatross Cam
Post by: Trillian Flummox on January 29, 2014, 12:59:46 PM
Cornell Labs started streaming a new bird cam this week. It's a Laysan Albatross nest in Hawaii with a newly hatched chick. A little something to warm us up on a frigid winter day!  http://cams.allaboutbirds.org/channel/41/Laysan_Albatross/

Thanks for the link.

If you ever make it to the island of Kauai, you can see Laysan albatross chicks scatttered around a residential neighbourhood on the north shore. They built the neighbourhood on a longstanding nesting ground and the albatross saw no reason to stop rearing chicks there. People name their chicks and put up signs, warning people not to get too close or harass them.

Oh yes wouldn't it be so lovely to visit any part of Hawaii? One of my many dream destinations.
Anyhoo, that's exactly where the new nest cam is located - "North shore of Kauai".
