.
Had a Northern Flicker in the yard munching on the suet feeder for quite a while yesterday.
How rare is it to see one in January?
This is the first one I've seen in the middle of a cold winter with a deep snow cover.

They are a year round species, nice to get one in your backyard.

It's regular in winter in Southern Ontario, but only in very small numbers. I haven't seen it in winter myself (last observation Nov 3 and first Apr 1). Nice find!
