While birding around the Rouge Valley today for the Great Backyard Bird Count, my son and I had fun discovering "Mary's Pies", the famous pie stand on the Scarborough Pickering Townline (just north of Finch). The pies and tarts are totally yummy and payment can simply be left in a jar. As an added bonus for birders, there are several feeders attracting a good variety of birds. Today's list included: Red-bellied Woodpecker, Downies, House Finch, Goldfinch, Tree Sparrow, Juncos, Cowbirds, Red-winged Blackbirds, and Chickadees. If you're curious about the pie stand, here's a nice article about it: http://valdodge.com/tag/marys-pies/
