Title: Black Vultures - Queenston/Lewiston
Post by: Bluffs Birder on February 16, 2014, 05:33:31 PM
Too far away for quality photos but for anyone who hasn't seen them, here's a couple of shots...

Once the furnace went on and the heat started to rise from the chimney at the First Presbyterian Church, this vulture started to do a dance.  From the Queenston Lookout, this church is located approximately 1.25 kms away across the Niagara River in Lewiston, NY.

During most of our viewing time there were 2 Black Vultures perched on the chimney of the church.

3 other Black Vultures were sitting on the high peak of the roof of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church which was roughly 1.55 kms away from our location in Ontario.

All 5 Black Vultures were easily identified as they flew in to our viewing area and landed.  Lighting conditions were perfect for seeing their 'silvery' wingtips.

Great find Walter~
I've been tempted to sit on the furnace vent a few times this past winter so I sympathize with these guys  :D ...who said birds are dumb?
Warmest spot around no doubt.
