Title: Drama played out
Post by: Dinusaur on February 21, 2014, 10:18:00 AM
Between two red-winged blackbirds at Lynde Shore during my trip there on Feb 18. Though it lasted only 2 seconds, it was fun to watch. Not sure what the other two birds are on both sides of the males; most likely juveniles.

Seq 4: Time to settle the conflict

Seq 5: Truce - giving each other a bit more space.

No blood, no gore; just a little fight that was quickly forgotten. It is too early to fight over a female; so it must be related to food. During the whole conflict the other two didn't move as if to say that there's nothing to worry about. Again, are these two birds on far left and far right juveniles or females?

I think the other two are female brown-headed cowbirds.  The one on the left in the third shot is in a hilarious cartoon-like position.
