Title: 3 Owls, Northern Goshawk Leslie Spit Saturday
Post by: adonbirder on December 22, 2007, 03:29:21 PM
Hi went for a quick hike at Tommy Thompson Park aka the Leslie Spit and was worth the morning walk.
Saw 3 owls, Barred, Long-eared and Great Horned. Also saw 2 Peregrine falcons, 1 was harassing a Northern Goshawk ,real neat.
Other highlights include 2 Northern Shrikes, flocks of common redpolls, 3 horned larks, 4 tundra swans, 4 types of gulls (Great Black-backed, Herring, Ring-billed and Bonapartes) and the usual rafts of ducks in the open water. Also saw a huge beaver by the little red bridge. Was a nice day to be out

Andrew,

I was just wondering what area of the spit did you see the owls.  I may check out the T.T park  area tomorow and if i had a general idea of where they like to roost it would be quite helpful.

thanks man

try around by where they do the bird banding, down the first peninsula, also past the little red bridge and on the right good area too
