Title: Nothing ventured, nothing gained
Post by: Dinusaur on March 02, 2014, 09:43:56 AM
So venturing I did and it yielded me four lifers on two different occasions. Mind you, I am a fairly new birder so lifers come more easily to me. On Saturday I went eastward to Whitby and on previous Saturday I  drove west to Guelph Lake. I had to travel twice to Guelph to see the Thrush; first time I was looking at wrong places. However, I was lucky to see the renowned Great Horned pair on my first attempt. Here are some photos from those two visits.

1. Varied Thrush - munching on a crab apple.

3. A Brown Creeper - it was difficult to keep up with this hopping bird

6. Great Horned Owl - probably the grumpy male. He was snoozing away high up on a pine tree.

Thanks Ramess & Annie.
Ramesh, yes it was fun despite very slippery trails; however, a joint venture would've been twice the fun.
