Title: Slow Birding
Post by: backyard birdin on December 23, 2007, 07:23:57 PM
Last week during the snow storm a merlin grabbed a sparrow from under my bird feeder.  It ate it across the street.  I've seen it around quite a bit.  Is this why the birds have been slow possibly?

I just stepped into the back door this morning (shoo-ing the acrobats off of my feeder) when there was a crash against our kitchen window.

It sounded like a snowball hitting..  I looked out and saw nothing. My wife opened the back door and a hawk flew away..

I ventured out and found feathers a little blood and wing finger marks in the snow on my deck.

I figure a coopers scared up the doves one hit the window and the hawk had an easy meal..
