Nikon today announced a new lens for the Nikon 1 system. The 70-300 f4.6-f5.6 lens ($1000) is not fast but due to the 2.7x crop factor it gives a Field of View of 190-810mm with built-in focus limiter. Nikon also announced the V3 body ($1200 with EVF and grip) that does 20fps with continuous AF. The lens and body weigh a combined 950g. This combination has some unique attribute but is quite expensive considering the smaller sensor.

This would be a fantastic birding combo if it was about a $1000- cheaper. Well, something to look forward to in a couple of years when it's discontinued :)
