Title: Algonquin

Can't believe I've waited so long to experience Algonquin! Of course it was only one over-night, and with kids, so birding was not the primary goal, but still managed three lifers. The highlight was probably the three Gray Jays who came very close to us, but just couldn't be enticed to eat from our hands. We all fell madly in love with their extreme cuteness! Couldn't quite manage a decent photo of the Ruffed Grouse, but here are the other two:

Congrats on the lifers!
What were you trying to hand feed the Jays with?

Oh! Yeah that would probably explain the disinterest. We had only the black oil sunflower seeds that we brought for the chickadees. Perhaps peanuts in the shell or some juicy grubs next time??   :D  Oh well, even though they didn't come to our hands, all three happily sat in some bushes within a few feet of us. Eventually we left before the birds did because my daughter became bored!
