Typical ones to get in winter include house finches, blue jays (especially for peanuts), goldfinches, cardinals, juncos, mourning doves, nuthatches (red and white breasted), and chickadees. If you put up suet, you may get downy and hairy woodpeckers. Of course, you may also get lots of house sparrows and pigeons. You sound like you are close to the Don Valley. If so, you might be lucky to get quite a variety of birds. I know some people will get pine siskins and redpolls during the winter.
