If my backyard is any gauge, today will be a good day to get out birding. I stepped out this morning and found 4 warbler species in about a minute. Lots of song too.

Nice!
We had a Yellow last Spring very briefly. But today there was a Warbling Vireo at the back of the yard, some Ruby-crowns near the house and a few Juncos.
-
The yard was a bit quieter this morning. New species were Veery and Rose-breasted Grosbeak.

I got my usual 12 species plus Juncos. No Kinglets or Vireo today. I am hoping for a Grosbeak visit.

I had a good variety pack this morning - lots of house sparrows, 4 white throated sparrows, a pair of cardinals, a few goldfinches, chickadees and a beautiful male housefinch (unusual for me). Other critters included two black squirrels, a red squirrel, a chipmunk and bugs bunny! :) Still no hummers - boo hoo!
p.s. those black squirrels have gnawed the feeder into oblivion; Hey Rob, can I borrow your hawk for a few days?

Once the hummers show up I'll probably just replace the old green gazebo with a hummingbird feeder so I guess I can put up with the squirrels for a few more days, and besides, I really enjoy watching them trying to climb the pole after I grease it!
