Title: Maplewood Park - Cooper's Hawk, Warblers, etc.
Post by: Bird Brain on May 07, 2014, 02:44:33 PM
Hi everyone.  I was walking at Maplewood Park today from 11:45am - 1:15pm and sighted the following:

Black-and-white Warblers x 2 (1m, 1f)
Black-throated Blue Warblers x 4 (males) ... one of my all-time favourites.  So beautiful!
Cardinals x 3
Chickadees x 3

Cooper's Hawk x 1 - flying around the middle woods with twigs, kept returning to the same nest.  Will be interesting to see whether this turns out to be a "dummy" nest or a real nest!  Would be really awesome to see baby hawks here again - it's been a few years!

Goldfinch x 1 (male) ... bright yellow "mini banana" plumage.
House Sparrows - dozens
Robins x 6

Other:  Could hear Chipping Sparrows but not see them.

Flowers:  white Trilliums at South end of woods.

Maplewood Park:  East side of Glen Erin Dr., just North of Aquitaine Ave.
