I just recently started a job here in the financial district and have been watching the resident falcons buzzing the towers. It never ceases to amaze me just how agile and fast these birds are. Has anyone else seen them?
I'm hoping to bring my camera to work one day and get a photo of it roosting to share with everyone.

I work downtown on King. I am on the 24th floor. I watch for them all the time but so far no luck.
You are so lucky to be able to see them Attila.

There is a pair at Yonge and Bloor, another on the Sheraton Centre and another at 18 King East. There is usually a public banding of the chicks,so keep your eyes on the Canadian Peregrine Foundation site this spring.
-
My office faces north towards the southern facing of the Sheraton Centre, I usually see the birds hanging out on unconstructed or open areas on the top floor, but when they fly they are always level with the 16th floor that I work on.
Thanks for the tip Big Frank, I'll be sure to keep an eye on the site for any activity they have.
Now I'm off to Home Depot to buy some wood for some nesting boxes...ciao!

I believe I saw a peregrine hunting the rail road tracks around Davisville station. I managed to get a few frames off but it was too far away for a 100% positive ID. I watched as it flew from the high towers on Davisville and into the Train Yard below the subway station. I have 5 more weeks on this particular piece of work so I will continue to bring my camera in hopes that it comes a bit closer next time.

For the Scarborough members, 4 peregrines were released at the Pharmacy & Eglinton site last year, and the pair that used to nest there, has returned and hang out around the water-tower at Warden & Eglinton.
-
I was part of the hack/release team at Pharmacy and Eglinton, the 4 birds we raised all migrated this fall. The 2 that were around the water tower at Warden and Eglinton, have taken to the Pharmacy area building and the female fancies the flagpole at the Super Centre where the huge Canadian flag used to fly. From her band we know she is from Rochester New York, the Kodak building, her name is Linn. The male we know is from the US but so far not been able to ascertain its band number for 100% ID. Linn has been seen defending the area, chasing off 2 Redtailed Hawks which live in the area. She had a very full crop when we saw her on Sunday, and was still busy terrorizing the local pigeon population. I encourage birders with extra time to volunteer at a Peregrine Falcon Fledgling Watch, this summer. U get a great chance to view the birds, learn and make a difference.

Nice shot!

Thanks Frank... so that's not the same two that nested there before then.
-
You are correct. Rueben and Laurie took residence on the Yellow Pages building up around the 401. They made runs by our hacksite a few times but took no action against the young Peregrines.
-
I saw them at the Milner building for most of the summer, I pass by there frequently, but I haven't seen them all winter.
-
BigFrank,
Do you mean the Yellow Pages building on Milner at Progress? If so, I think that those birds have moved over towards what used to be the Consilium towers by the McCowan LRT station...

Thats the ones yes, thanks for the correction.

No problem at all BigFrank!
I was just on the phone w/ the Kortright centre and am heading up there today for a visit. I'm also going to swing by the CPF to become a member and hopefully get a chance to do some volunteering for them this year in their fledgling watch program.
Cheers and I'll post back later to let you know how it all went!
