Post by: nkwali on May 19, 2014, 10:29:26 AM
I birded ABB from 7:00-8:30 this morning

It was cool, wet and quiet.

However:
warblers:
palm, canada, wilson's, magnolia, yellow-rumped, chestnut-sided

scarlet tanager (4)
baltimore oriole (4 - at least)
warbling vireo
flycatcher - maybe least
eastern kingbird
b-g gnatcatcher

Was down at ABB this morning from 6:45-8:30 (before getting rained out)

Most of the birds were seen around the willows close to the thicket where the b-g gnatcatchers are often seen.
I ran into Bruce who was kind enough to share his expertise and to point out the European goldfinch hanging out with a small flock of goldfinches.

In more mundane sighting news:
warblers:
blackpoll, canada, yellow, blackburnian, cape may, american redstart, chestnut-sided

others:
raven - being chased off by redwinged blackbirds
baltimore orioles (5)
b-g gnatcatchers (2)
indigo buntings (2)
scarlet tanager (1)
rose-breasted grosbeak (female) (1)
warbling vireo (2)

Wow that's cool...I saw a European Goldfinch at that exact location about one year ago.  Interesting.
