Title: young red-tail
Post by: Pat Hodgson on June 18, 2014, 09:04:25 AM
Red-tailed hawks have fledged from nest in my neighbourhood.  Parent-child food transfer failed and headed/gutted prey (robin or starling, I think) landed on roof of garage with a thud.
Here is one of the kids perched on my house.  Note clump of spruce needles stuck with sap to lower belly.

Great photo.

When do RTH's nest ? Such a large bird...thought it might fledge a little later.

not sure on the nesting dates but kind of like great horned owls they do get started quite early in the year
