Title: Trouble??

Osprey in flight. Crap shot and a 200% crop.

Wondering what that stuff is that is coming out of his mouth.

Not in any of the before or after shots.

Looks to me like its coughing back up a piece of water weed, but I'm no expert.

My first veggie osprey.

I have observed him a number of times and of the many times he has left the nest he has returned only once with a fish.

Yesterday we saw him hovering over a field which also seemed rather unusual for a fish eater.

Cornell says of ospreys: "On very rare occasions, Ospreys have been observed feeding on fish carcasses or on birds, snakes, voles, squirrels, muskrats, and salamanders." Maybe you'll get to see one of these rare behaviours!

If the parents are around, then probably hunger is driving this Osprey to eat something other than a fish. Hope he lives.
