This weekend the Nature Conservancy of Canada is conducting a count of butterflies (Saturday) and dragonflies (Sunday) in the Carden Alvar. Anyone interested in volunteering can get more information and register here:

I'm hoping to take my own kids on Saturday for the butterfly count, but I'm still not sure if we'll be able to make it. Sorry I don't know exactly where they are meeting, I assume they will tell you if you register. Apparently a naturalist named Bob Bowles will be on hand Saturday to help with the butterflies. No prior experience or equipment is necessary - they will provide the nets and the expertise. It's open to all ages.
