Hi,
This shore bird was flying, landing on the rocks, investigating the water's edge, then flying further to the same types of land at Jack Darling Park in Mississauga yesterday. It did not want any humans coming close. I only was able to take photos from a distance of the bird in flight so I'm not sure the colour of the legs etc. The lighting was bad due to the threat of rain.
Any guesses?

My guess is Spotted Sandpiper.

I agree, Spotted Sandpiper. There aren't too many possibilities with an unmarked tail & rump, plus the white on the wing. The behaviour sounds typical. Juveniles don't have spots and adults may already have lost theirs.
