Title: Baird's Sandpiper?
Post by: Rotarran on August 25, 2014, 11:56:31 PM
I'm fairly certain this is a Baird's but would like to confirm.  Size was bigger than nearby Least & Semi-Palmated Sandpipers but at the same time smaller than Pectoral and Stilt Sandpipers and Lesser Yellowlegs nearby.

Comparison shot with Lesser Yellowlegs

And now comparison with a Semi-palmated:

Another this time with a Least:

And another probably my best close-up:

Looks good to me. Yellowish breast, larger than Semipalmated, long wings.

Where did you see it?

This was in the Simcoe Region around the Beeton Sod Farms area.  Depending on where you find puddles or formations of water is kinda where you'll find the birds.  But this particular sighting was at a puddle on the west side of Tottenham Road between 10th and 11th line.
