Title: Confusing Fall WarbVire
Post by: BetCrooks on August 30, 2014, 08:39:15 PM
Ok, I give up. Is it a warbler? Is it a vireo? Is it a Goldfinch that had beakoplasty?
The Wilson's Warbler that toodled through the same trees a few minutes later was so much easier to id!

The lighting was extremely poor and the bird was very far away from me, so it's quite possible the camera is registering colours incorrectly. E.g. it may be less yellow than this etc.

To me, based on the eye arcs, it looks like a bright bay-breasted, but its tough to tell.

Yes, you are right, the wide wing bar is another good indication. I got too caught up in what to me looked like bright yellow colour. Bay-breasted it is.

Thank you both!
That's the first time I've seen that type which makes it doubly interesting!
