Title: Yellowlegs or Solitary?
Post by: Dinusaur on September 13, 2014, 09:19:21 PM
I saw Solitary before in this location - not sure what this one is. Perhaps a Lesser Yellowlegs? Could be a juvenile of some sort as it appears to be fearless.

I will bring in my considerable (not) expertise at identifying shorebirds and guess Greater Yellowlegs because of the length of the bill and that it looks like it is curving slightly upwards in the first photo. However, some real experts should give you a proper ID even if I am right.

Nice shots BTW.

I second Pauls ID, Greater Yellowlegs. Solitary Sandpiper has shorter, more greenish legs than the Yellowlegs.
