Title: Help with ID Please
Post by: Dinusaur on November 02, 2014, 05:45:35 PM
Saw this one, high up on a tree, today at Downsview Park. It appears to be of similar in size as a mocking bird - that's what I thought initially.

A lovely Northern Shrike. That sharply hooked bill helps distinguish it from the very similar Mockingbird. This looks like an immature since it does not yet have its distinctive black eye mask.
