Title: aggressive birds
Post by: candidpets on November 14, 2014, 03:28:18 PM
Hello

just this past year in spring i saw a starling go into a hole following a flicker and heard a fight going on it chased the much bigger flicker away.  It actually stuffed itself into a small tiny area with the bigger stronger bird and beat it till it left its hole/nest.

I could not believe it did that, because usually smaller birds win by using their agility to their advantage they dont lock in battle in a tiny spot bit a much stronger larger bird.

Have you guys seen such things? Do starlings drive off things like blue jays as well? THey seem to be scared of common grackles.

I've seen the same thing at my local park.
The flicker ended up starting another cavity.
