Title: Great Horned Owl on the spit
Post by: Papagano on February 02, 2008, 04:02:50 PM
Just had a fantastic morning walk on the spit. God its gorgeous after a snow storm!

In the patch of forest just before the red bridge, there was an incredible great horned owl sleeping.  I did see his (or her) big yellow eyes  a few times when he (or she) turned their head a complete 180 degrees to check me out as I approached.  Incredible life bird.

Was on the spit also this morning. So pretty in the woods. Saw the GH Owl, and also saw a kestal breakfasting on a mouse, a red-tailed hawk, the shrike that has been hanging around all winter, a Northern Flicker, Hairy Woodpecker, Tree sparrows, and the other usuals, including the usual waterfowl.

Great morning!
