We live near Dovercourt Park in Toronto and yesterday we had a small number of birds that we couldn't identify, even after scouring our Birds of Canada book. It was about the size and shape of a Grosbeak, it had a charcoal black hood, a medium gray body, and a white belly. It seemed to have a yellow beak, although we couldn't get a clear view. No other distinguishable markings, and the feathers seemed very uniform, almost as smooth as a Waxwing. We are curious to know if anyone out there can identify this bird. Thanks!

Sounds like Dark-eyed Juncos.

That looks like the ones, thank you! We've never seen them before in our neighbourhood.
