Title: Owl, Great Horned, Milton
Post by: Napper on January 12, 2015, 12:32:28 PM
A group of crows were causing quite the commotion across the street from my house this morning
They were dive bombing something in the tree back there. I saw movement an hmm look whats there.

A Great Horned Owl. Poor thing the Crows forced it away and chased it from tree to tree and finally off into the distance.

I was in the back yard taking a break from all day renovation work when I heard that sound again.

Large group of Crows really noisy in the front of the house, not as close this time. I spotted a Red Tail in the same tree with the Crows.

The Red Tail took off headed East and the Crows continued their pursuit in the other direction.

A few minutes pass and here come the Crows again in hot pursuit of a  Great Horned Owl.

Took a few snaps not very good but you get the idea. I had to crop it and brighten it..

Napper :)  Weird, the crows don't look real

p.s. Someone in Milton submitted an image  of a Barred Owl to the local news paper taken Christmas eve.

Lucky you !  I heard one hooting close by. Went to the back porch to listen for the call ... next thing you know ...it flew out from one of the large pines in out back yard ... no time to get the camera and lighting was poor anyway.

You know...it's a weird thing about the crows....I mean...they predate upon other bird's eggs and nestlings....and yet the mob other predatory birds....hypocrites !
