Hi,
I found this bird at Downsview Park today at about 12:45pm. I'm leaning towards Western Red Tail. Please ID.
Either way, credit goes to John Brett for finding the bird and who alerted me that this bird was in the area when I arrived there. Thank you, John!
Thanks for looking.

Tail pattern and iris colour shows that this is a juvenile bird and Rough-legged Hawk can be eliminated as it is lacking the dark wrist spot. The tail pattern also fits better with juv. Red-tail, so I agree with your conclusion that it is a dark morph western Red-tailed Hawk.

Hey
Very Cool, I spotted a very similar Hawk at Downsview a few weeks ago but I cannot bring my camera to work so I had no
way to provide an image.
Am glad someone else spotted it.

I saw a Rough-legged Hawk today and at first I thought it was this bird but now that I see the picture again, I'm confident what I saw was a Rough-legged Hawk. I'll post pics later in the Toronto reports section.
