Title: High Park - Bald Eagle, Evening Grossbeaks and more
Post by: gray on January 28, 2015, 02:58:28 PM
Hay! Was up early and spent most of my morning in high park. Before the sun was up a Sharp-shinned hawk flew over my head and landed in the tree in front of me. Watched the feeders for a bit at the bird sactuary and saw the Evening Grossbeaks - 5 male, 1 female that folks have been seeing for a while. All the usuale feeder suspects were also around: goldfinches, nuthatches, woodpeckers, sparrows, mourning doves, chickadees.  Then i took a bike ride down to Grenadeir Pond and spotted the Bald Eagle. A little tour around the park also turned up a pair of redtails, a flock of robins, a sharpshinned / coopers'( photo in another forum because i couldn't tell), and a great horned owl. :)
