Title: Barn swallow nests
Post by: cabz on March 11, 2015, 04:26:31 PM
At the barn where I board my horse, the place has several barn swallow nests.  The birds have built nests on light fixtures, which the owner wants to discourage.  She does not mind the birds in the barn, just looking for ways to discourage them from building on the fixtures.  Couple of the lights are fluorescent on a wall, but do not want to put a shelf above to block the light.  One suggestion has been to put window screen ove the light.  Any other suggestions or advise?

Thank you in advance.  Lovely weather out there.  Heard a robin at Port Weller yesterday.  Spring is coming!!!!

Would it be possible to build some other sort of small platform which the birds would prefer to the lights?
I'm not sure what that would look like but it is a possible avenue for research.
