Title: Short-eared Owl, Erieau, Chatham-Kent
Post by: thouc on February 15, 2008, 06:11:41 PM
I observerd a Short-eared Owl (new species for me) flying characteristically near the entrance to Erieau, and luckily it landed on a post right by the road so I could get a nice view of it even without binoculars.
Other interesting observations in the fields between Erieau and Blenheim the last days are
Rough-legged Hawk (both dark and light phases), American Kestrel, Snow Bunting (up to 100, most seen along the roads after snowfall) and Horned Lark (up to 200). In addition a Greater Scaup was walking on the street in Erieau yesterday!
