Hey, I'm new here. I just did a 24 hour birding binge and have a whole new route planned again downtown to see what I find tomorrow. (These were at high park and St.Claire west and Bathurst area)

I commented on the photos that I knew the species, however there is this black bird with bluish head and also a small bird I have no idea :( . Also a woodpecker of some kind as well as something I thought was a bluejay....but it wasn't blue.
Do you like my pics, I hope you will flip through the 20 or so pics and comment on species I haven't guessed on??!!!
Really nice space to talk about birds, I will share my findings after tomorrows birding if that's ok!

The black one with a bluish head is a Common Grackle
The next black ones are European Starlings
The yellowy-brown one is an American Goldfinch
The woodpecker looks like a Hairy but maybe not 100% identifiable from those pictures
The brown one in the reeds is a male House Sparrow
Then a Blue Jay

Thank you! I suspected that was a goldfinch, but the blue jay was not very blue :(. I found some nice pictures of winter birds so that should help me tomorrow. I really wanted to see an owl

Blue Jays are a lot more blue if you see them from above.

Your woodpecker would be either a Downy or a Hairy.
I agree with Reuven however that it it is most likely a Hairy. If you zoom in on pic #10, the bill appears to be too long to be a Downy.

I saw some downy's today so I'm pretty sure that one was a hairy
