That explains the look of the female that Howieh mentioned above.
Seriously though, until you mentioned I didn't realize that the female is a juvenile. I did some digging on the net. Since Cooper's hawks pair for life, I have to assume that this is the first for both. Male is most likely 2 year old and the female, which probably attains sexual maturity at an earlier age, most likely one year old. Nature works mysterious ways. I will go back later to see if this courtship continues and what ensues.
