Title: Algonquin Pine Martens
Post by: ghostbear on April 20, 2015, 08:24:18 PM
It's been a great winter for my husband Simon and I in Algonquin. We've been searching for the elusive pine marten for years, all over North America. Seen many tails, glimpses and rumours, but it wasn't until this January that we finally had great opportunities to photograph these adorable creatures.

Sorry this is my first post here, and can't seem to figure out how to ensure my horizontal photos are not cut off.

Hope to see them again soon!

Great photos and welcome to the board!
If I may suggest, for this site I don't think you really need to post anything bigger than 800 pixels on the long side.
BTW I had the pleasure of meeting Simon twice at Col Sam Smith Park while photographing Snowies!

Thanks so much! And thanks for the advice with the photos. I'm learning :)

That's great that you met Simon. We frequent that park in the winter, and are planning on heading back over there very soon. Hope to see you there!

Nice job on the Marten. They were easy to get to this year.
I did not know you guys were local. I somehow thought you were from the West Coast
I have been reading about Simon off and on for the past few years.
Welcome!

FYI, Wolverines?? Your best bet is Finland! Pretty much a guarantee.

Thanks so much, Meghan! They were so adorable, we couldn't get enough of them.

You were right about the west coast, though. Simon is originally from Vancouver, and I'm from Southern Ontario. He made the move out here when we met several years ago.

Oh my, we just looked up information about wolverines in Finland (http://wildfinland.org/ (http://wildfinland.org/)). It is now on the list :) Thanks for sharing. Now we just have to save up...

Take care, Meghan!

Hey Jill,

If I can be so bold and help you spend your money. I would suggest Finnature if you ever make it out there  http://finnature.com/ (http://finnature.com/)
A bit pricey though, but that is who I ould choose if I was to go:
