I am especially fond of #1 with the excellent catchlights and composition.

It looks like you used a flash on these, the first one (barred owl) has red eye. The second image has the whites blown out.
Try a stop or two less flash, more of a fill light effect would work better here.
Or take them without the flash, just crank up your ISO to gain shutter speed.
