Title: Are these Bushtits?
Post by: Khalli on July 08, 2015, 12:38:56 PM
Took these photos in Sacramento, as a small flock of these birds were busily feeding off a tree in the middle of town. Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.

Not sure if those are Bushtits, but here is one from Newport Beach CA back in March.

Your birds look too elongated (not round) and stout-billed for bushtit.
But I cannot suggest an alternative ID.  Something exotic?

I'm not good with out-of-my-range kids, but could this be a juvenile Verdin?

I thought the bill was much too thick for verdin too, plus they would be well out of range in Sacramento.
