Title: female redwing blackbird variation??
Post by: Khalli on August 27, 2015, 09:44:03 AM
Had this bird hanging around my yard for a few days. I am assuming it is a female Redwing Blackbird but have never seen one with such strong yellow tones. Is this a variation or just an aberration? Any thoughts or comments will be appreciated.

Might be a juvenile, they seem to be yellowish sometimes.

Agree with juvie Red-wing.
Most likely a male. It seems some young males show this yellow colouration. Also there's a bit of red shoulder patch starting to show in the first pic and a bit of yellow strip starting to show in the shoulder in both pics.
