I was at Downsview today and heard a call I've never heard before...I looked up and saw about 7 birds flying together. I'm reasonably certain they were shorebirds and fairly sizable ones at that.
Their song was kinda melodious. It was in fact that melodic nature that peaked my curiosity. Before I could get any good shots off they were too distant and I lost them. But I did get one picture...not sure if it is enough. From what I've seen online, Black-bellied Plover seems to match best. Now I know it's a bit of a stretch but is this picture enough to confirm?

Should be Black-bellied Plover or American Golden-Plover. Can't see the armpit well enough to determine which one.

Thanks Thouc. I compared the songs of the two birds and it was definitely closer to the BPP. The AGP was too simple....the song I heard was more complex and melodic. Also it seems from the picture that the black extends only to belly, leaving the undertail white.
