Title: Barn Swallow?
Post by: Napper on October 03, 2015, 02:42:32 PM
Here I am on the deck prep'n for winter putting things away draining water systems etc. at Tiny Beaches before the up coming storm.

Its actually pretty nice here right now.

I Look up and there is a Barn Swallow zipping around well above the tree tops.

Isn't it getting a bit late?

yes this is on the late side - check bar charts on ebird to see this sort of thing - sometimes better to select Toronto as a county rather than a more rural location due to more data - later in the month a swallow like this stands a decent chance of being a cave swallow

Thank you for your response, I did check  ebird for any possible sightings of course there were none since late August. I did not look at  Cave Swallow data.

About  an hour after the first sighting  my wife and I watched two Swallows zip across the sky heading in a Southerly direction along the edge of Georgian bay

Napper:)

We are ten minutes  North of  Tiny Marsh  by vehicle and lets say 500 feet (est) from Georgian bay.
