Title: October towhees
Post by: cairnstone on October 10, 2015, 10:15:29 AM
October brings the Eastern Towhees back to the garden. They are quite a splash of colour among the smaller winter sparrows that have now invaded. This one was giving his distinctive towhee call piercing the still and quiet air this morning.

Beautiful! (looks like a souped up robin!). I'm still waiting for the white throated and white crowned sparrows to show up but I do have a pair of blue jays and a 'flying' chipmunk competing for the feeder. Ok, it's not really a flying chipmunk but if he's on the feeder when Mr. BJ arrives he looks like a flying squirrel! :)

White-throated and White-crowned Sparrows should be with you soon. I have dozens of them here in Brampton.
