Title: Barrow's Goldeneye - Tommy Thompson Park today
Post by: nana on November 07, 2015, 05:03:09 PM
The beautiful male Barrow's Goldeneye found bright and early this morning by PP was still around late this afternoon. Having scanned the huge rafts of ducks at the farthest westerly end of Cell 3 to no avail I was heading home around 3:30 when I bumped into my friend Bob. He hadn't had luck finding it either (nor had 3 other chaps who were still searching the 100's of ducks in Cell 3). As Bob and I headed towards the gate, we decided to take a quick look at a small group of Goldeneye swimming in the gap between Cell 2 and Cell 3. Sure enough, there was the Barrow's. Took some photos. It is always exciting to find a Life Bird!

Wow, great bird! I've only ever seen these in Ottawa on the Rideau River
