Title: Black Duck or Mallard?

Guessing it's a Mallard but didn't see the blue.  She was alone with another female.  Thanks all.

I'd go for male Black with that nice yellow bill.

It looks like a basic (non-breeding) plumage male Mallard. If this is a recent photo, it might be a MallardXBlack hybrid. It has the diagnostic Mallard tail curl. It's also very pale for a Black Duck.

You're right about the tail curl, Brian. I stand corrected. I thought the bird was a bit pale also but felt it might be the quality of the photo.
