Title: what are these insects?

Major snow and ice event occurred last evening and this afternoon
we have some sort of Mosquito like insects flying about?

that is bizarre....have not see that before! Might be hard to determine what they are. Happy New year!

My guess is some kind of midge, which look sort of mosquito-like. The ones around here tend to have feathery antennae, unlike the mosquitoes.
