Title: Lambton woods/James Gardens
Post by: mr.sharp-photo on February 17, 2016, 04:36:59 PM
Paid my first visit there in a long time. It's a great winter park.
First the "no's". No pileated or red-belly woodpeckers. no screech owls (may be a bit too early).
Lots of hairy and downy woodpeckers (not as many as previous years), cardinals, a pair of house finches, juncos, chickadees, robins, starlings, mourning doves.  Sounded like a killdeer, but it was likely the starlings messing with me.
A red-tailed hawk was eating a mouse or something in a tree.
lots of annoying leashless dog walkers, including one woman who had 4 dogs off leash. one ran off and she sat there for 10 minutes, screaming his name and whistling. sigh...
