Yesterday I saw small grey birds in East York. They seemed to be larger than Juncos and were more uniformly grey in colour (we have juncos at our house in Markham and these were different).
No distinguishing marks. Stayed low in spruce tree and skittered quickly along the ground when eating.
Any idea on what birds these might be?
Thanks.

Female Brown-headed Cowbirds?

Female Brown-headed Cowbirds?
I don't think so. More greyish and different shaped bill and longer tail. A little slimmer body as well.

It sounds like a Gray Catbird, but they are rather rare in February. Then again, I've heard of three reports in southern Ontario in the past week, so you never know.

Thanks. Beginning to wonder if they could be juncos with different colouration from regular.
BTW robins are back today in Unionville.
