Title: Northern Shrike
Post by: cairnstone on March 12, 2016, 06:28:09 PM
Today March 12, 2016, I encountered a Northern Shrike just a hundred meters or so south of Side Rd 10 on 16 Line just a little west of Orangeville. It was gorging itself on large insects flying around and occasionally catching juicy ones on the ground. It payed little attention to my presence (I did not get out of the car). I'd guess it will be around a while longer. A little further south on Line 16 there are more than 100 Tundra Swans in a flooded field.

Very nice image

dual post here

Yesterday we were down near Lake Erie for another somber family thing.

We entered the East end of Port Colborne on HWY 140 when we spotted two Turkey Vultures airborne and 5 on the ground on some sort of road kill .

Lots  of activity in Milton but even more along Lake Erie, I'm thinking its just a pause waiting for favourable weather.

Napper :)
