Title: Warblers in Windfields
Post by: souci on May 10, 2016, 03:02:56 PM
On Friday during a lovely walk in Windfields Park at York Mills and Bayview in Toronto I saw and heard a couple of little warblers. I was able to identify a Black-throated Blue Warbler by sight and sound. I see that others have been spotted during the past few days.  I thought I caught a Blackpoll Warbler, by sight and sound, but it might be a little early and I didn't see others in the reports. Anyone feel they can confirm or suggest what it might have been?

Out here in Mississauga, Black and White warblers are still moving through. Perhaps that's the bird you saw?

This would be very early for a Blackpoll, especially this year when most species are a bit late. Black and White would be far more likely.

I guess you are both right. I always have thought the black and white warblers I have seen were strongly black and white, and this one seemed to be also brownish, but the song is similar enough and I just saw a pictures on the Audubon app that made them look nearly identical.
Thanks very much!
